CHAOS ART GALLERY was born by the will of the Uccia Fieni Onlus Foundation and depends on it.
The Uccia Fieni Foundation was created by the Parma painter Alfredo Chiapponi (1938-2016) to honor the memory of his wife, the unforgettable primary school teacher Maria Fieni known as Uccia, who died of cancer in 2012.
The purpose of the Foundation, which has its registered office in the City of Parma Hospital Clinic, is to spread culture and education, help children and cancer patients, primarily by donating an annual scholarship to a deserving Primary School student.
After the death of the artist Chiapponi in 2016, the managerial and moral legacy of the Foundation passed on to friends and supporters who, finally, with the opening of this gallery, found a way to respect the will of its founder. , promoting art, culture and supporting the various activities of the institution. They have identified a space in the center of Parma, large, bright, perfect for hosting quality exhibitions and events.
The name and logo are inspired by the famous inlay of the Renaissance painter Lorenzo Lotto in the choir of the church of Santa Maria Maggiore in Bergamo with the inscription "Magnum Chaos", where for Chaos we mean the confused and fervent moment that precedes creation, in the history of the universe as well as in the forge of human thought. Just as Nietzsche wrote: "One must have chaos within oneself to give birth to a dancing star".
CHAOS ART GALLERY is located in Vicolo al Leon d’oro 8, in the heart of Parma, a stone's throw from Piazza Duomo and Piazza Garibaldi.
The art direction is entrusted to the art historian and journalist Dr. Manuela Bartolotti, assisted by Arnaldo Rosi for organization and set-up and by Paola Dall’Orto for communication. Other friends of the Foundation collaborate on a voluntary basis for the opening shifts of the gallery (from Tue to Sat 10-12.30 / 16-19, Sun 16-19, closed on Mondays).
The gallery was inaugurated on 29 September 2018 with the exhibition "Bridges of Peace" by the two international artists Tobia Ravà and Abdallah Khaled and was followed in 2018/19 by numerous other quality exhibitions.
